\nFocused his research activity mainly on biological treatments of wastewaters, aiming at the removal
\nof nutrients and xenobiotics and\/or resource recovery
\nThe main research interests can be summarized as follows:
\n– Advanced processes for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment (membrane bioreactors)
\n– Biological nutrients and xenobiotics removal processes for wastewater treatment
\n– Anaerobic co-digestion of sludge and solid organic waste
\n– Anaerobic fermentation of solid organic wastes for the production of valuable chemical
\ncompounds
\n– Biological and chemical\/physical treatment of anaerobic digestate
\n– Recovery of biopolymers from sewage sludge<\/p>\n

MAIN INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATIONS
\nAuthored and co-authored 55 SCOPUS-indexed papers (3 in press), 6 chapters of international edited book (5 in press in 2015) and more than 100 presentations at international and national congresses all dealing with the treatments of wastes and wastewaters (Hindex = 15; Total citations = 527 source SCOPUS; -updated February 2015-).<\/p>\n
