Petros Kokkinos is collaborating teaching staff member of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), (Postgraduate Study Programme “Waste Management”), and a postdoctoral researcher of the School of Science and Technology (SST) (Laboratory of Sustainable Waste Management). He studied Biological Sciences at the University of Trieste, Italy, and holds a PhD from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics of the University of Patras, Greece. He has significant postodoctoral research experience as a member of the Environmental Microbiology Unit (Laboratory of Hygiene, Department of Medicine, University of Patras). He was a researcher of significant projects such as: 1) BioNFate (ARISTEIA I), “Fate and transport of biocolloids and nanoparticles in groundwater and effects of polluted water on public health”, and 2) Archimedes III, “Wastewater Reuse – Development of a risk assessment model for public health protection”. He is also a researcher of the INVALOR research infrastructure (research infrastructure for waste valorization and sustainable management of resources). His research interests include Water Pollution, Wastewater Reuse, Biology of Wastewater Treatment, Environmental Virology, Risk Assessment and Public Health.
